The purpose of the Gifted Department is to identify students who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual and/or creative abilities, exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields as outlined by the Georgia Department of Education.

The future leaders of the world are in our classrooms today. As the Gifted Lead at Tara Elementary School, my goal is to encourage students to become independent, lifelong learners. Gifted learners engage in authentic tasks that require the utilization of communication, group dynamics, problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, research, and self-science. Learners are exposed to interdisciplinary units and are given an opportunity to expand their thinking through the use of hands-on projects.
